If you read the blog often you know I am all about setting goals. Not just setting them but really making an action driven and measurable plan to reach them.
The first quarter of 2016 come and went, and boy has it been a doozie!
Each month this year I’ve shared a post about my goals in my personal life, health and fitness and blogging but we haven’t really talked about my yearly goals in a while as a blogger and business owner. I was on a site that I love and often visit, ran by fellow San Antonio blogger named Jenny, called Breakfast at Lilly’s and she posted a blog titled 2016 Goals Revisited. I decided this was a great idea and I should do it as well. Part of the reason I like doing monthly goals is because it gives me a chance to publically hold myself accountable and to see how my progress is going. It’s easy to reach a goal if you’re checking in on it. So Jenny’s post made me realize that I needed to be sure I was doing this for those larger annual goals. So let’s take a look at the first part of my year, where I am on my goals and where I need to go.
My 2016 Goal Statement is:
I want to grow my brand and business to not only work for myself full-time but to help and guide other millennial women towards success and balance.
I am happy to say I am on track to doing this. I’ve found a more consistent tone for the blog and it’s helped open up opportunities to get me closer to this goal.
I’ve also gotten so much love in the past few months in the comments and on social media that make me believe I am making a difference and helping my readers.
Travel: Attend Blogher 16 in Los Angeles
I have purchased my plane ticket and conference ticket to Blogher 16 and cannot wait to go back! This year Sarah Michelle Gellar is one of the Keynote speakers and my inner Buffy The Vampire Slayer fan could not be more excited!
I haven’t booked my room yet because this is a solo trip and while I love meeting and connecting with new bloggers I love the one time a year I get a hotel room all to myself, so I am waiting till it’s closer to make that expense.
If you haven’t already registered for Blogher 16, do it! You will not regret it!
Launch First Workshop
Launch First E-Course
Do Freelance Consulting
While I’ve been working on the content for my Workshop and E-course (which will be tied together) I have decided that I want to focus on building my email list the first half of the year before launching to be sure I hit the ground running when both launch.
I have yet to start doing Vlogs but they will be apart of the E-Course (as of right now).
I also really want to start a podcast but know I need to focus on one step at a time to make sure that I give each item my full attention and deliver the best content to my followers. I don’t want to be a jack of all trades and master of none. As I’ve said a million times, Little by little becomes a lot.
Publish 262 articles!
Wow, this sounds like a lot, considering there’s 52 weeks in a year and I publish on my blog twice a week. Right now my current goal is to publish 2 articles a month on other websites and that has been hit and miss this year. I am hoping now that I have my wonderful Virtual Assistant to help with social media marketing and other time-consuming tasks I can get back into writing and pitching story ideas more often.
Right now (including this piece) I have 43… 220 to go!
I think I can, I think I can… I know I can!
I can admit looking at these 5 months later I didn’t have too much confidence in my reach goals and set the bar a little low.
Facebook Page Likes 300
I’m currently at 308, so I will raise that to 500!
Twitter Followers 1500
I am slightly over 1600 and average about 100 new ones each month. I am increasing this to 2000.
I am almost there, so I will bump this to 600. I am working really hard to grow my Instagram following and thanks to Canva, hashtags and engaging more actively, I see myself knocking this one out of the park.
Pinterest 500 followers
I have 489! Ah, so close I can taste it! I am going to increase this as well to 600. I am getting more repins and Pinterest referrals but my following isn’t growing as fast as I’d hoped. I need to finish the Pinterest growth course I’m taking and advertise my profile more.
Currently, my average monthly page views is at 35,402 . I am almost halfway to my goal and considering that the year is halfway over I am feeling on track.
I am so glad I took a timeout from the day to day bustle and my monthly goals to reevaluate, now I know how to proceed. Obviously, my Twitter marketing strategy is doing well and the major jump of likes on my Facebook page also shows that I am making smart choices there. I need to continue to be engaged on Instagram and keep making Pinnable images to increase my Pinterest following.
Have you looked back at your goals or resolutions?
How was your first quarter?
What do you need to work on? Maybe I can help.
