4 Reasons I Love Todoist

We are all busy! I work a full time job along with my blog and freelancing. That being said, it never fails that when I’m in the thick of it at my day job I have amazing ideas or important thoughts pop up in reference to my blog.
Sometimes I could sit there for two hours and maybe crank out the first draft of one blog post but I’ll be working on Google Adwords for a client and have 3 blog post ideas and remember 2 things I wanted to add on the blog.
It can be a little frustrating when you have so many balls in the air if you don’t have a system to keep things in place. In came Todoist.
My friend Jenn from HomebyJenn.com introduced me to it a while back when we were on a Google Hangout chat. I had never heard of it but in the past month it has totally changed how I organize my to-do list. I’m a huge fan of to-do lists, nothing calms me down when I go into task overload like then a clean list of what all needs to get done (I know talk nerdy to me lol).

What is Todoist?

Todoist is a online to-do app.

4 Reasons I Love Todoist

It’s simple

This is so easy. I’ve attempted to use other apps or scheduling platforms and I just felt like they made things more difficult than they should have. The whole point of a to-do list app is to organize things and make things simpler. That is not the case with a lot of them.
It takes no time at all to input new tasks or mark them complete on todoist.

I can access it from anywhere with

Not only can I access it from my my laptop but there is an app for it on iOS and Android. I can only speak for the android version but I love that the app looks the same on mobile as it does on desktop. There is seriously no learning curve going from one device to the other. I’ve found a lot of websites tend to lose their flow when it comes to the app but Todoist doesn’t let you down. I can add a task when I’m at work on my computer and know it will sync perfectly to my phone.

It helps me prioritize things

For such a clean and self proclaimed distraction free design it allows you to be as detailed as you want in your tasks. You can add tasks to projects, add due dates, set priority filters and create recurring tasks. On the premium version you can add notes to your tasks which I love to use for putting in links for later reference.

It keeps me up to date

If you use the calendar on your phone or computer chances are one a reminder pops up it’s one and done. Todoist keeps incomplete tasks on your to-do list and you get a daily reminder each morning telling you how many tasks you have and how many you might have over-due. This way if you don’t get around to every task you won’t forget to do it the next day.

At only $28.99 a year it is a real steal! That comes down to less than $3.00 a month! For that low of a price why would you not give it a try? There is a free version but the premium is worth the price. You can sign up for it here.

Getting organized and being able to access it at a glance is key to keeping myself motivated and organized.

  4. Crystal Disbrow

I’ll have to check it out. I mostly use the IOS calendar and reminders right now.

  5. Emily

Oh my gosh I am downloading this NOW!! I didn’t even know there were apps like this 🙂

  6. Dr. Daisy

Great post and tips! I’ve tried all sorts of apps but honestly, I can’t live without my paper planner. I’m a paper and pen type of girl. I have tons of lists, stickie notes and my trusted planner that I can’t live without. Thanks for sharing this new app though, I’ll be sure to tell my friends and congrats on your new course 🙂

  7. Liz Mays

My daughter turned me on to Todoist, and it definitely keeps me accountable. The reminders make me feel guilty. lol

  8. Michelle Rogers

I haven’t tried an app yet, but it’s a good idea! My notes are getting out of control. 😀

  9. Jenny

Ive heard of Todoist but never used it. I may have to give it a go after reading this post.

    xoxo, Jenny

Awesome! I’ve never found a to do list app I like, but ToDoist looks great. I still use my notebooks/planner to write down everything but they’re not very portable. Maybe I can use both!

Oh nice! I typically just use my Apple to do list. This looks much more comprehensive!

  12. Justine Y @ Little Dove

I’ll have to check this app out! I have never been able to find an electronic scheduler that I like more than good ol’ paper and pen. 🙂 I do love the idea of being able to access it anywhere though!

  13. Lola

Ok, I think the Balanced Side Hustle is EXACTLY what I need in my life right now. Definitely entering the giveaway!

  14. Ashleigh

Ok so I’ve been needing a good scheduling app but have had some issues in the past with others out there. I will have to give this a try! You posted this at just the right time, Dia, thank you!!!

  15. Valerie

I hate admitting it but it may be time for me to give in and try this. I’ve got so many things going and I need to keep them straight.

  16. Dia

I serious feel like it’s a game changer.

  17. Dia

I haven’t tried Apple’s to do list but I can’t imagine not having todoist now that I have it.

  18. Dia

That’s a great idea. For blog notes and that sort of thing it’s way better to just have paper if you can’t have your computer but for to do type stuff this will keep you in check.

  19. Dia

Try the free version and they will probably give you a trial of the premium and you will be hooked.

  20. Dia

Haha hey whatever works Liz! Glad to talk to a fellow todoist!

  21. Dia

Thanks Dr.D! Honestly I am also a pen and paper girl but this just makes it better! Use both!

  22. Dia

    You will love it Em!

  23. Dia

See I’m a droid person and even on my work mac I use Google but I’d give the free version a try, if you think your scheduling could be improved.

  24. Dia

I am the same way. Clear and easy to follow! 🙂

  25. Dia

    Awesome!

  26. Dia

I know how much you love your planners Cori. For the stuff you put on your phone this app will keep it a lot more organized.

  27. Dia

We are all busy! Don’t ever feel bad for admitting you need help. 🙂 I think it will help.

  28. Dia

    I hope you love it!

  29. Dia

    Good luck!

  30. Dia

I think the combo of both you would would love.

  33. Dia

Georgiana! You always brighten my day!

  34. Dia

  35. April Hammond

I use a mix of paper and virtual. I will have to check out that todoist app. For my blogging I am a spreadsheet type girl in google docs, for other things I am paper based. The app sounds great!

  36. Liz

I use Wunderlist – like Todoist, it’s accessible on all of my devices and I can create several folders and lists to keep myself organized. We even used shared lists at home to keep up-to-date with grocery lists and other things we need for the home. 🙂

  37. All Things Big and Small Blog

I have heard such wonderful things about Todoist but never really gotten into using it. I need to though, because although I use my paper planner there are so many times that I can’t find it, forget where I wrote something down, and need something on my phone. Such good tips!

  38. Dia

Haha I would always be like “Where did I write that down.”

  39. Dia

You do have share functionality on Todoist but I have no one to share with lol

  40. Dia

    I love it so much.

  41. Dia

Google docs is my jam! I hope you give todoist a try.

  42. candy

I have always been more of a paper person, but am slowly coming around to using more apps. This one I cold probably get use to and enjoy using.

  43. Rochelle

I’m checking this app out now. Thanks for the share!

  44. Dia

I think you would find value in some of it’s functions. You could probably use it and paper just for different things.

  45. Dia

    Hope you enjoy it!

  46. Sky

Things sounds like a great program! I am the absolute worst with to-do lists so I think it could really help me stay focused and on track!

  47. Dia

You should give it a try!

  48. Channing Morris

I had actually just looked at asana and decided on that for task but ill have try todoist for list!

  49. Melissa Chee
