As a blogger I read a lot of other blogs and every so often I stumble across a post that really means something to me. When I read Angie’s blog “I can’t stop wanting you next to me” I felt like I was reading something I could of written myself. Her words so relatable, real and raw I became an instant fan.
I am so excited to introduce you all to Angie from My So-Called Chaos, a writer, creative and wonderful artist.
I’m a huge fan of inspirational sayings and quotes. What is your favorite quote, saying or life motto?
Oh man, I’m a big fan of these too-and there are so many! Recently one I’ve loved is “Sometimes you have to burn bridges in order to never cross them again.” It stands out to me because it’s a powerful reminder that it’s okay to let go of people who don’t bring goodness into your life, especially when it comes to exes.
But, if you want to know my all time favorite, it’s a quote by Harvey Milk that says “You’re going to fall in love with so many of them, and you wont know until the end of your life who your greatest friends were or your greatest love was.” because it’s a powerful reminder to keep loving and meeting new people-because you never know. You can’t know.
It seems like your blog started as a therapeutic practice and kind of evolved into an impressive business with a strong following? What is something you wish you’d learned sooner?
I wish I’d learned that it doesn’t have to be one or the other. You don’t have to either have a successful business blog or write about your personal life, you can do both-in fact some of the bloggers that people connect with best have a good healthy balance of both. Though, I’m still trying to figure out where my balance is because blogging, not unlike life, is a constant learning process. You should never stop learning and growing, whether it’s from other bloggers, your own experience, or your readers.
You’re a wonderful artist, what are some other ways you unwind?
You’re so sweet! Seriously, I’m highly flattered by these questions. To unwind I love to sit down with a glass of wine and read, or do something artsy/crafty while I watch TV. Recently I’ve been binge-watching TV shows while crocheting, which is something I haven’t been into for a while, but somehow have found again. It’s nice to have something that lets my brain shut down after a full day of work and blogging.
Of all the things you do, what is something you couldn’t go a day without?
Checking my blog and social media accounts… I try, I mean I really do try, on the weekends to stay away from the computer as much as possible since I’m so glued to it during the week… I mostly succeed when it comes to checking email and actually working on stuff, but I just love my blog and social media accounts so I’ll still check them. Bukowski said “Find what you love and let it kill you.” and I really do love my blog. It’s probably my favorite thing in the whole world.
Do it yourself is everywhere! But at allthethingsido.com DIY is about more than crafts. It’s about ways you can make positive changes in your life emotionally, physically and financially. What is the best thing readers can start doing for themselves that you do?
Invest in yourself in every way. Invest financially-start budgeting (this is something I’m only just getting into and it’s much needed), go to college, spend a little money to advertise your blog, etc. Invest mentally-start meditating, take time out of yoru schedule to read, make sure you get a good night’s sleep, etc. Invest physically-go to the gym, take up yoga, eat good things, drink water, etc.
When you invest in yourself you’re making a statement that says “I love myself.” A statement not only to the world, but also to yourself, that says you aren’t going to settle for less than you deserve, because you aren’t. You’re going to kick ass and take names, and be the #boss you were meant to be.

When you invest in yourself you’re making a statement that “i love myself.” – I’m seriously going to write that down and hang that on my wall. I always feel so guilty investing in myself (though I am currently running a Facebook ad, so I guess I moved past it..lol) I enjoyed learning about Angie. Thanks!
Marie
