It’s hard to believe that the Summer is almost over. I mean I know technically Fall doesn’t start until September 22 but if you went to school in the U.S. you probably recognize Summer as the end of May to the middle of August. I mean the stores are already displaying back to school stuff and there is an adorable commercial right now for IKEA about dorm life right now. Either way I bid July goodbye and say hello to all the exciting August activities.
July 2017 Goals Recap
Personal Goals
- Read three books
This has really been the year of books for me and I love it. I’ve mixed in more fiction along with my business and self-improvement books. This month I read:
The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
- Do at least one activity a week for myself that isn’t work related.
I had hoped on doing an active job of tracking this but I didn’t create a guide but I am happy to say my birthday month was full of self-care.
In week one I just went and hung out with a friend at her new house and had some drinks on the 4th of July.
For my birthday week, I got a two-hour massage. Had so much fun (maybe too much) and hung out with friends.
The next weekend I kind of had self-care retreat and didn’t hang out with anyone. Seriously I went about 42 hours without seeing anyone else and it was great. I mean it wasn’t all Netflix and feet up. I did do some work but I just hung out with me. Which is a totally healthy thing everyone should find a way to do from time to time.
I also managed to have a girls night and went to see the new movie Girls Trip it was hilarious.
- Do my gratitude/goal journal at least 5 days a week if not 7.
I’ll be honest, some days it was so easy. Other days it was a little like pulling teeth. I mean it’s not like I don’t have so much in my life I’m grateful for but I will admit that one day I did say, “I’m gratefully for naps.” I was stressed out and dealing with a bout of insomnia and that was the thing I was most grateful for that day.
- Do daily affirmations.
Yes. This hasn’t been something that I only do in the mornings. It’s been some mornings, some days at lunch, sometimes at night. Sometimes while sitting at my desk and trying not to scream.
- Meditate every day.
I have been trying lots of guided meditations lately. Some for visualizing my goals, getting out of my head, increasing my focus and a lot more.
- Have an amazing birthday!
I had the best birthday I’ve had in years. It was pretty much everything I hoped it would be. I had some disappointments my past few birthdays so it was nice this one worked out.
- Visit my family.
I actually decided to postpone my trip to go to see my parents but it worked out because they actually end up being in town the next weekend and I was able to take them to lunch for their birthdays (we’re all July babies).
- See my boo!
Yep!
- Go see Girls Trip.
As I mentioned above it was great!

- Go to a gym class at least 8 times this month.
I was so determined to do this month. I thought, well, 8 times is only twice a week. I even put up a tracker in my kitchen. Sadly I did not hit 8. I did go on several walks but as far as classes go I didn’t hit 8.
- Hit my original goal weight
I officially hit 40 pounds which was my original goal. I am still working hard to maintain my healthy diet.
