Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.― Oscar Wilde

A quote on being yourself…

Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.
― Oscar Wilde

My Thoughts: Everyday we are bombarded with information about people from multiple sources. What our friends are doing. What celebrities are wearing. What everyone else is eating. How people are doing their hair. What slang words we should use….I could go on and on. Sometimes it’s hard to know what to do. Frankly, I’m over everyone telling us who to be and how to be. We are programmed with a desire to connect.

We are programmed with a desire to connect with other humans. It’s what allows us to feel amazing things like hope, love and joy. Connecting to others doesn’t mean you have to be carbon copies of each other. The world is made up of so many types of people, each unique in their own way. By trying to be someone else you are depriving the world and yourself of the undeniable awesome weirdo you have inside. Aspire to be better, aspire to grow. But never lose who you are on the journey.

I like to think about our differences this way. If everyone did everything the same way we would never have any new ideas or new inventions for that matter. We would just keep doing things the same way and get nowhere.  Hell if it wasn’t for different points of view or new ideas we wouldn’t have Netflix or wine…. wine!

But in all seriousness (I know, I know wine and Netflix are pretty serious) we are so lucky to live in a world where we can be who we are. As crazy as things are in the world right now you can still let your freak flag fly.

So what are some things that make you special? What is something you used to be ashamed of or scared of that now you rock as a badge of honor? Tell me in the comments.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. The world would be boring if we were all the same.. hello, it’s why God made us different!! We have too many clones in the world, I’d rather be an individual 🙂
