“I’m an idealist. I don’t know where I’m going but I’m on my way.”
-Carl Sandburg
My Thoughts: Besides the sheer silliness of Sandburg’s statement, there is something oddly comforting about this. I’m a big planner and researcher but even I know things don’t always go the way we expect. If you asked 16-year-old me where 25-year-old me would be today, she would have said, “Teaching Latin American studies….” I took one Latin American course in college and I’m defiantly not an educator. The point is you don’t always know whats going to happen and that’s okay. What isn’t okay is standing still. There have been nights I’ve gotten ‘all dressed up with no place to go‘ because I knew I wanted to do something. And you know what? I made it happen.
Sometimes you have to figure it out as you go and that can be more exciting than having an organized plan. Trying new things and stepping out of the norm are the only ways to discover new passions and experiences.
