On Waiting Your Turn….

I don’t know if you ever watched the show California Dreams, it was the epitome of a teen show in the 90’s in the classic style of  Saved by the Bell, U.S.A High or 90210.

It followed a fictional group of teens in California and their band. Randomly in a state of deep nostalgia, I Googled to see what happened to the show’s cast. I stumbled across a video of the cast doing a reunion on The Jimmy Fallon Show (because Jimmy always knows what we want). At one point Jimmy asks each  person what they are up to now. When he asks Michael Cade what he’s doing now and Cade talks about the many projects he’s working on and says, “If you never get out of line your turn will come.”

That hit me like a ton of bricks! It was true. We all know life is hard, in fact after so many disappointing moments it’s easy to just give up. After so many nos it’s easy to get into the mindset you might never hear a yes.

On the days when it hurts to get out of bed, when breathing feels like the hardest thing you have to do, those are probably the days where your yes is coming around the corner. If you keep trying and waiting you will eventually get something. I personally am dealing with a lot right now and I have to believe there is some silver lining. That there is a win in my near future. A resolution to my pain.

This doesn’t mean that sit at home waiting for Mr.Right to show up to show up disguised a pizza guy or that Sheryl Sandberg is going to see your blog and offer you a job as her right hand, it means that you have to get off your butt and just keep fighting. If you keep trying and stay patient you will eventually get where you are meant to be.

I am dealing with a lot right now and I have to believe there is some silver lining. That there is a win in my near future. A resolution to my pain.

It may be hard waiting for your turn but you can bet if you stop trying it never will be your turn!

So keep applying to those jobs, keep going on those blind dates, keep auditioning, keep writing, whatever it is, just keep trying!

Now get ready for a throwback!

Exactly! Get up, wash your face, brush your teeth, and start working on something. Even if you can only make it through a small project (whatever that project may be), always keep working towards your goals.

What a great statement. I really like this if you never get out of line your turn will come. Should make people stop and think. Patience!

This is great advice. I totally agree that it can be really easy to just give up when you are constantly being told no. I def needed to hear this b/c I feel like I watch all these good things happening for other people and I’m constantly dealing with adult pains. You’re right though. We just have to stay in line and wait out turn!
