How do I set my business goals?

September 2017 Goals

Goodbye August, you will not be missed! I refuse to start this post with a rant about all the things that drove me crazy during August. Instead, I will say, “Hello sweet September!” Let’s review what August looked like.

August 2017 Goals

Personal Goals

  • Read three books

Obviously, I enjoyed my Audible this month but I also read some Kindle books in August. I have been devouring content and not really even business stuff but money, mindset and entertainment. This month I read 5 books!
 Rich Bitch

 Lucky Bitch

 Precious Victims

Girl Walks Out of A Bar

 Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs

Because this isn’t a book review post, I won’t dive into the particulars of each book but I will say I enjoyed them all. If you’re looking for a true crime book, Precious Victims is great. Need a money mindset book? Lucky Bitch. Need some real strategic knowledge about money as a young woman, Rich Bitch. Want to read a funny and eye opening memoir? Girl Walks Out of A Bar. Want a stereotypical yet funny vampire fantasy novel? Check out Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs.

  • Do at least one activity a week for myself that isn’t work related.

Yes. This month was busy, like most. But I did have a lot of good times. Celebrated a friend’s 21st, said goodbye to two interns and had a mini staycation. I really did make a point to do stuff I enjoyed.

  • Do my gratitude/goal journal at least 5 days a week if not 7.

I was really making strides with this but I found myself last week just not feeling it. I still did it 5 times but I might need to switch it up for a while.

  • Do daily affirmations.

Thanks to Lucky Bitch I have even more new ones to enjoy.

  • Meditate every day.

I have started doing a different kind of meditation/melt down at the end of the night. It is a little woo woo since I learned it from Lucky Bitch but basically in my head I go up from my toes to the top of my head and tell each body part “I love you. I’m sorry. I forgive you. Thank you.” I’m sure it sounds strange but it lets me get out of my head and feel good about myself. Because sometimes your hips need to hear, “I love you.” I was explaining it to the boyfriend and he was like, “‘I forgive you.’ Did your toes betray you?” LOL I went on to explain that it’s about accepting every inch of yourself even areas you may have criticized your whole life.

Health and Fitness

  • Make meals at home 80% of the time or only eat out 4 times of the week.

This was completed for reasons beyond my control. First I wanted to save money because I had multiple irregular expenses this month (think car registration and inspection, website domain renewal, p.o. box renewal, etc) and because Hurrican Harvey was expected to cause flooding in San Antonio (my area wasn’t largely affected) we did have wind and rain so I stayed in with some cheap wine and tons of food and water.

  • Get back into working out.

I have gotten back into yoga but I still am not working out nearly as much as I used to.

  • Try to do yoga at least two mornings a week.

See above.

August is always an AWFUL month for me on the blog: I write about travel, and everyone has either gone on their summer travels already or haven’t started planning fall/winter travel yet. Ugh! Even with the pageviews being way down, I did have a great month with my blogging income, so I’ll take that as a win. It sounds like you managed to accomplish A LOT this past month–I hope you meet all of your goals in September, too!

  5. Dia

Thanks, Erica! Hope you have a great September as well. 🙂

Thanks so much Natalie! I get what you mean, my pageviews took a dive in August too but that has been the norm the past 2 years for me so it was expected. They normally level back off. Good luck and congrats on the good income month!

  7. Dia

I don’t know why I waited so long to read them. Have a great month!

  8. Dia

Thanks, Leslie. I hope your September is amazing.

Sweet. I need to get back into yoga. I had a horrible back spasm over labor day weekend that reminded me how much I need to get back into the practice.

  10. Dia

It really opened up my mind to the ways I’ve been holding myself back and also made me realize stuff I was carrying around.
